Hello, I’m James Clinton and I’m running to be your Northfield City Council Member, Ward 4

The common things I’ve heard that I plan to support…

  1. Help people feel better represented and more engaged in public projects.

  2. Stop increasing property taxes to support special interest projects.

  3. Provide more housing options for those who work in Northfield and for those who worked in Northfield but are now retiring.

  4. Make it safer and easier to travel around the city.  Will likely need to add more parking, slow down the rate of bike lane additions and review the current public transit options to align with workers’ needs.

  5. Support economic development projects only when they clearly create quality jobs for Northfielders and also have tangible, vetted, positive projections for our local economy and taxpayers.  Financial outcomes need to be easily trackable.

  6. Protect us from data centers being built, while supporting other environmentally responsible commercial/industrial development in line with the Northfield comprehensive plan (https://www.northfieldmn.gov/1685/Comprehensive-Plan).

  7. Do not sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) for economic development projects.

Please let me know your thoughts and hopes for Northfield as well as what you want to know about me…

  • If you live in Ward 4 and think I should adjust any of this, please contact me.  If you have specific ideas on how we can achieve these things, please let me know.  I will strongly consider and greatly appreciate any direct feedback from Ward 4 residents!
